Telemetry is an add-on oMG software application for automotive self-diagnosis and reporting.

Telemetry interfaces with an automotive vehicle using the standard OBD-II protocol. OBD, an acronym for On-Board Diagnostics, is the electronic interface system of compliant automobiles. OBD-II is an updated OBD standard which is mandatory for cars sold in the US after 1996. Through OBD-II, Telemetry gains real-time access to diagnostic data generated by various embedded electronic systems within a vehicle. This is a valuable source of information when troubleshooting automotive problems.

For general background information on OBD-II, please refer to this web page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Board_Diagnostics.

Telemetry requires an OBD-II compliant scan tool to read the diagnostic data from the vehicle. Telemetry sends the vehicle data to the oMM application. In order to access the data, oMM must be equipped with the optional Telemetry module. Note that Telemetry is a tool for reading the diagnostic data from a vehicle and does not support fault clearing, e.g., reset the Check Engine light, when faults are found.
