    How to check data consumption?

Get a global view of your fleet consumption

This Howto explains how to check the number of systems and the datapoints which have been used in the current month, in order to anticipate the bill at the end of the month.

First, go to the Dashboard tab to display the summary level view of your fleet consumption. There are two widgets to help us: the Current consumption and the Historical consumption.

    Current consumption

This widget allows you to verify the number of activated systems and their total Datapoint consumption for the current month.

    • Number of activated systems is the peak number of activated systems for your own account for current month, and is updated once per day.
    • Received datapoints is the number of raw data values received in the current month. A Datapoint is any update received from a device sensor, or an alert.

These widgets on the main (level 1 customer) dashboard show the total systems and received Datapoints from all the subaccounts including the mother company’s. The sub-accounts tab shows the breakdown for systems and Datapoints for each sub-account.

    Check historical consumption

These 2 widgets allow you to track trends in system activations and data consumption:

    • Systems widget: This widget displays the maximum activated systems by month, for the last 12 months.
    • Datapoints reception widget: This widget displays the received Datapoints by month, for the last 12 months.

    Consumption analysis

This combined information helps you analyse your consumption. For example:

    • Highlighting if Datapoint consumption is more elevated than normal, based on your company’s usage over the last 12 months.
    • Highlighting if the number of activated systems has decreased compared to your company’s figures for the last 12 months

This will allow you to anticipate the next bill, and/or to identify anomalies for a system or a set of systems, so that you can rapidly react to optimize Datapoint consumption.

If you have enabled the Sub-accounts option, the Account Management application provides extra tools to help you analyze consumption and any related issues. See How to manage sub-accounts.
