The scope of this document is the Firmware 7.52 release description for the AirPrimes listed in the compatibility section.
Firmware 7.52 is a maintenance release based on Firmware 7.50.0.A1 (for AirPrime SL808xT) and Firmware 7.51 (for AirPrime SL6087, Q2686 and Q2687).
This release note may be distributed to all direct and indirect customers and will be posted in Sierra Wireless Developer Zone

SL808xT now fully support firmware and application update by delta mechanism from the AirVantage Management Services server in addition to the monitoring and remote debugging capability

Some SL8 PIN are being multiplexed with GPIO features in order to enhance GPIO numbers. The GPIO pins introduced are GPIO12-GPIO19.

Some APIs have been implemented in order to Write/Read Certificates and Keys as files to/from SL8 file system.
Supplementary services (beta)
Support of Voice Mail Indicator and Call barring supplementary services have been added on SL8.
Allows to speed up RF testing on SL8 at manufacturing. A continuous signal is supplied from the MS with a constant power level on a given channel. So, a GSM tester is able to measure transmitted signal level.

This section presents all corrections or improvements integrated in Firmware 7.52 & 7.52.1.A5
Issues are sorted by alphabetical order of Impacted Domain.
Call waiting beeps for an incoming call are not heard during an active call.
In case of file system corruption, a recovery mechanism of critical firmware data has been implemented to secure module being able to power up. While recovering the module, file system content (files and A&D objects) may not fully recover. Present Open AT application is not impacted.
When AT+CLCK=”PN”,1,<password> command is executed, ERROR is returned.
AT+WIMEI cannot set IMEI on AirPrimes with default/blank IMEI.
+CLIP response is returned very late when interrogation of +CLIP status is rejected by network
+CME ERROR: 30 is returned very late when the activation for call waiting is rejected by network.
Activating/deactivating ENS feature using AT+WBHV is not functional.
<ActiveConfig> setting of +SPEAKER is not maintained after AirPrime power cycles.
AT+WPPP command fails to update password for CHAP/PAP protocol, if it is already set once.
Deleted LDN phonebook entries still appear after AirPrime restarts on deleting the LDN phonebook by AT+WDCP="LD" command.
Emergency Call 000 Fails with a PIN or PUK locked USIM.
In PDU mode, the content of stored unsent message is altered after receiving a new message.
AT+CMGD command does not delete the message properly.
SMS cannot be sent after the activation of PDP context.
Occasional AirPrime reset while sending lots of SMS in quick succession.
Bridge mode fails in case of 2 PPP interfaces are bridged
AT+CMUT=1 does not mute the microphone. Instead it mutes the earphone.
AirPrime is unable to stop the BUSY tone when an MO call is made to a busy phone number.
On configuring the GPIO as INPUT using AT+WIOM command and then writing on the INPUT configured GPIO using AT+WIOW command, the direction on INPUT configured GPIO changes to OUTPUT.
No error is received on subscribing to ADL BUS service, either on already subscribed GPIO or on unsupported GPIO.
GPIO's subscribed as OUTPUT by using Application may switch its direction to INPUT after calling adl_extintSubscribe API.
"CONNECT" message is not displayed when data connection is established on DLC opened on USB.
SPI write sometimes fails when a payload exceeding 90 bytes is written repeatedly in a loop.
Sometimes AirPrime is not able to communicate on the SPI bus.
The volume of the speaker and microphone do not change for some values of gain of AT+WDGR and AT+WDGT.
Occasionally, ADL_INIT_REBOOT_FROM_EXCEPTION not received in adl_main if reset is caused due to Application inserting too many items in queue.
On USB port, DD frames are not received while activating the DATA mode for GPRS session.
On UART CTS pin becomes logical low on disabling hardware flow control.
Loopback connection on UART1 results in data loss.
Download of large file using Developer Studio fails over UART.
The XMODEM download over UART can be done only at the baud rate of 115200.
After few normal restarts (due to +WOPEN, +CFUN), AT+WDWL doesn't launch the xmodem bootloader.
AirPrime may restart during firmware upgrade through AirVantage Management Services.
+CME ERROR: 515 is received, when an Application is running on AirPrime and +WDSO command is sent in concatenation with other command from AirVantage Management Services server.
AirPrime cannot connect to the AirVantage Management Services when an HTTP connection has been created using Internet Library.
If RDMS APN is not set and connection with first tomer APN fails, AirPrime doesn’t try to connect with remaining tomer APNs. Correct behavior is to try all PDP contexts one by one.
AT+WPPP=1 without optional parameters returns +CME ERROR:3.
+CGEV indications may not be reported when cid parameter is present in them.
GPRS detach not performed with at+cgatt=0.
AirPrime does not acknowledge LCP-ECHO request leading to disconnection of PPP on Linux OS.
AirPrime restarts when AT+WIPBR is executed, for GPRS bearer, with combined length of <login> and <password> higher than 48.
AT port can become unresponsive when the download XTRA command and the inquiry command are sent in a short time.
Improvements related to GPS performance
During IP connection, sometimes event ADL_CALL_HANGUP_OK is not received when adl_callhangup() is called during an active call.
Emergency call not possible without SIM or when SIM PIN is locked and PIN is not yet entered.
When a mobile originated emergency call is terminated using ATH, sometimes OK is not received and no further voice call is possible.
When a call waiting indication is seen, AT+CHLD=2 needs to be executed twice to accept the new call and to put the active call on hold.
Users with Call waiting service enabled have difficulty in hearing the ongoing call when a third call is in waiting.
User cannot use call waiting and call conferencing services.
ADL_CALL_EVENT_NO_CARRIER event not sent to the Application when call is BUSY.
When AT+CHLD=0 or AT+CHLD=1x command is issued, Active call is also disconnected.
When AT+CHLD=0 command is issued, Active call is also disconnected.
AT+CACM does not return correct accumulated meter values.
All emergency calls are directed to 112, instead of the emergency number specified.
AirPrime resets on dialing a number with 60 or more digits.
When SIM is in "No PIN" or "PIN1 blocked", emergency call can't be made.
Emergency call made after PUK1 is unlocked gets disconnected automatically after a short duration
Emergency Call 000 fails.
AT+CCED=0,8 always returns 99 for channel bit error rate.
<LAC> and <CellId> field value is not reported correctly through CCED response.
+WIND: 15 is not seen when there is a change in time zone.
When AT+CSSN=1,1 has been executed on AirPrime, the supplementary service notification for “additional incoming call forwarded” ( +CSSU: 10 ) is never received.
AT+CCED=0 leads to occasional reception of +CME ERROR: 30.
Stress testing AT+COPS=?, without waiting for response, leads to +CME ERROR 515 for all the AT commands including the AT command.
+CREG: 2 is not received on network loss.
SMS ADL callbacks not always received even if SMS is sent correctly.
On sending the SMS again after changing the service type from GPRS to GSM (circuit switched),+CMS ERROR: 515 is received.
Occasional AirPrime reset while sending SMS.
<time> field of +CCFC is not displayed when <reason> is no reply.
Call waiting unsolicited responses (+CCWA ) are not received when the ongoing call has been put on hold.
At times complete incoming USSD string is not shown with + D indication.
AT+CCFC=0,4 does not erase unconditional call forwarding for data call and AT+CCWA=0,0 does not disable call waiting for data call.
Call Barring Service not working.
AT+CCFC returns incorrect call forward status.
Registration of Call Forwarding Supplementary service for all asynchronous services, using ATD command, leads to registration of the service for all tele-services.
Call waiting status, received with +CCWA indications, is incorrect.
AirPrime displays the connected line identification presentation information even if "COLP" is not provisioned.
Call waiting status, received in +CCWA: indication, is incorrect.
Certain + D indications are not received even when AT+ D=1 has been issued.
Extra responses of activating call forwarding including that of data, fax are received along with correct response for speech for BS codes =17(Voice group calling service) or 18(Voice broadcast service).
Supplementary service notification for “forwarded MT call” (+CSSU: 0) are missing when enabled by AT+CSSN=1.
Audio quality may deteriorate when audio & GPS operations are preformed concurrently.
Microphone feedback in speaker may not change for some values of gain of AT+SIDET
Wrong digital gain of the speaker in index received if the Gain set in Db mode.
The DTMF tone is played locally at speaker when the tone is sent using AT+VTS.
AirPrime indicates to network that it supports AMR-Wideband (even though it doesn't).
API adl_ioGetCapabilitiesList() returns incorrect number of GPIOs (one more than the actual number of GPIO pins available on the AirPrime).
adl_ioRead() retrieves incorrect GPIO level values after some GPIO write operations.
API adl_ctxSuspend does not work.
SPI_CS_N may sometimes be released early, leading to data loss (last byte of SPI data).
With some specific SIM cards, SIM initialization may sometimes fail.
Software watchdog is not functional.
When trying to put a GDB breakpoint in an Application using a low level interrupt, the breakpoint isn't reached and AirPrime restarts.
Can't select Band 6 (UMTS800) with AT+WUBS command.
Indicator control, +CIND, reports incorrect signal quality.
Wrong TON of address for phone number may be received for AT+CLIP command.
The value <Maximum bitrate DL> in sometimes not set correctly with AT+CGEQREQ command.
This section presents all corrections or improvements integrated in Firmware 7.52.
Unsolicited +WDSI indication sent after 10 minutes instead of 30 minutes when the Application does not sends a response to the user agreement. The maximum value that could be set for the timer to send the +WDSI indication is 19 minutes instead of the specified range ([0-1440] minutes).
When an empty AMS APN is set using AT+WDSS command and at least one valid context is defined with a specific authentication protocol (NONE, PAP or CHAP), then this protocol is not being used for AMS context activation.
CHAP authentication is not used when a PDP context is defined and a login and password is specified using AT+WDSS command.
Sometimes, +WDSI:3 indication is received even if the package download fails due to communication issues with the AMS server.
When the sequence of commands "AT+WREGC=0" and then "AT+COPS=0" is given, the OK response corresponding to "AT+COPS=0" is received very late. Also, when the sequence of commands "AT+COPS=0" and then "AT+WREGC=1" is given, the "OK" response corresponding to "AT+WREGC=1" is not received.
AT+COPN command does not correctly display 6-digits PLMN information when MNC value starts with a leading 0 (e.g MNC=089).
RI pulse is generated for all the unsolicited indications instead of indications generated only by Application, when bit 16 is set using AT+WRIM command.
When command AT+ WBCM? is issued after downloading a new firmware, the default value of parameter “OverChargeVoltage” is shown incorrectly as 4608 instead of 4700.
When GPRS is attached to the network then CEER (Extended Error Report) is not set to 0 but it remains to the last saved value.
In +WBHV=0,1 configuration, +WIND:2 indication (the calling party is alerting) will not be received on terminal after making MO call.
AirPrime may reset if ME phonebook is repeatedly filled and erased using AT+CPBW command over a long period.
It is not possible to make an outgoing call by indicating the name field of the entry in LN, MC, RC, EN or SN phonebook.
AT+CPBW does not accept values for <text> of even length that begin with "90".
AirPrime does not respond when AT+CPBW command is issued for updating FDN phonebook with SSC String more than 20 digits.
Large size data packets, sent using FCM, are not received properly in case the frame size is specified higher than 127 while opening CMUX Session.
USB port can be disabled even if a CMUX session is active on it.
Issuing AT commands on a CMUX DLC and uploading data using DUN on another CMUX DLC may lead to a data stall as CTS of AirPrime goes high.
If CTS of the UART toggles very frequently during UART communication, it may sometimes lead to a reset.
When repeatedly switching between command mode and data mode at a high frequency, "+++" escape may sometimes not switch from data mode to command mode.
AirPrime does not come out of slow idle mode when a character is received on UART2 (keypress event).
Long AT commands (100 or more characters) may get corrupted when sent using Developer Studio. Repeatedly sending long AT commands may reset the AirPrime.
When a +WBCI: 0 unsolicited response is received by the device and if no charger is plugged, the baseband Power signal is not toggled to low state.
AirPrime may reset when a CMUX session is active on USB port & the USB cable is plugged-out and plugged-in repeatedly.
UART becomes unresponsive after closing an active CMUX session with MuxConfTool v18.104.22.168.
AirPrime may reset when a CMUX session is active on USB port & the USB cable is plugged out and plugged in and then, an AT command is issued over the resumed DLC session.
If echo has been enabled with ATE1 on UART, and a long command is entered repeatedly over long period, it sometimes may not be echoed back correctly.
Developer Studio may sometimes be unable to communicate with the AirPrime when it sends large amount of HAPC data to the AirPrime (when "Send AT commands requests in development mode" option in Developer Studio is checked)
When auto-baud is enabled, UART may become unresponsive if a large AT command (about 1000 characters long), is entered.
Repeated PDP context modification in a loop results in +CME ERROR: 515.
The command AT+CGATT=1 returns +CME ERROR: 103 instead of +CME ERROR: 106 when the network rejects the attach request with the cause "illegal ME".
The final response is not received at the terminal when valid network initiated PDP activation request is manually answered using AT+CGANS=1,1 command.
When GPRS automatic mode is turned on, PDP context is not automatically activated when requested by the network.
GPRS detach occurs if network sends a message with incorrect timeslot allocation value during an active data transfer session.
Combined detach using AT+CGATT=2 (GPRS and GSM detach in the same network request on networks with Network Operation Mode of 1) is not functional.
GPRS Dial-up (with CHAP authentication) may fail when PPP address compression deactivated
With a dummy SIM, a spurious +CREG: 2 (searching for network) indication is received after receiving +CREG: 3 indication (registration is rejected by the network).
Activation of GPRS bearer fails when MIC listening service has been turned on.
Abnormal ADC values may be reported at low input voltage (~0V) and high input voltage (>2V)
When stack is off and AT+WBHV? Command is executed, then DTMF duration is not shown as zero.
+CMS ERROR: 500 is received when character set is set other than HEX( using AT+CSCS command) and an attempt is made to read the stored SMS from ME memory.
IP packets sent by developer studio cannot be decoded by Wireshark as they do not have correct header.
AirPrime resets on giving AT+CFUN=0 command when SIM removal is deactivated and +CME ERROR:13 has been received after opening the SIM rack.
When a UICC card issued and if there is no USIM AID found in EF_DIR (file containing the list of available applications) SIM doesn’t initialized with GSM application which may be present in file.
USIM which is declared as UICC but does not have a USIM application is not detected by AirPrime as an ICC (fallback operation).
Proactive polling is not done if the rack is opened and SIMREMOVE feature is off.
SIM/USIM is not detected if content of ATR is not compliant with the 3GPP standard.
USIM declared as present even if it does not respond to validity check requests.
Listing contents of file system in the root directory also lists symbolic link for parent directory ("..").
No interrupt triggered by TCU when it is setup in cyclic mode.
After subscribing A&D Service if it is subscribed again at second time for the same Cell ID, API adl_adInfo() will return wrong value of size.
+CME ERROR: 3 is received on entering UserPin of size greater than 16 digits with +WDSB command.
Using AMS, the SMS counter in roaming is not correctly incremented when the device is registered in Roaming on a PLMN where the MNC is 0 (like HK_CSL network: MCC: 454 , MNC: 00) This SMS counter in roaming should be correctly increment on all network.
AirPrime resets when backtrace buffer becomes full and module tries to send this buffer to AMS server.
If both UART ports are enabled, then after the reset of AirPrime, reset monitoring parameter for AMS is incremented by count of two instead of one.
+CME ERROR: 515 is received, when an application is running on AirPrime and +WDSO command is sent in concatenation with other command from AMS server; it has to be sent alone first, then other commands can be sent (in one concatenate command or not) when the +WDSO response has been received on the server side. The same problem is encountered when the 1st command of the concatenated command is +WOPEN. Similar issue also happens when the command is sent on an external port.
Default value for DSR signal cannot be restored using AT&F command, once the DSR signal value is stored as 0 in EEPROM using command AT&W.
When AT+CPWD command is used to change the password for FDN facility, +CME ERROR: 3 is received.
AirPrime is not able to switch to AT mode when CMUX session is closed.
AirPrime shows wrong weekday value after transition from Saturday to Sunday or from Sunday to Monday.
When AT+WDSS command is issued to initiate connection with the AMS server and if GPRS session is activated by using command ATD*99***1# before reception of the unsolicited event '+WDSI: 6', then after issuance of the escape sequence (+++), the unsolicited event '+WDSI: 6' is incorrectly received before the reception of OK response.
Data transmission from the AirPrime gets stopped when an application that calls the API 'adl_fcmFlushV24TxData' upon toggling of DTR signal is running on the AirPrime.
After successful application upgrade using DOTA, adl_InitGetType() always returns ADL_INIT_DOWNLOAD_SUCCESS instead of ADL_INIT_POWER_ON if a reset is given to the AirPrime.
Command class gets blocked when the command "ATGH?" is issued.
If AirPrime is not attached to GPRS service, AT+CGDATA=1 does not perform the necessary actions to set up communication between the module and the network. Instead it returns +CME ERROR: 3.
OK is received instead of +CME ERROR: 3 when the SIM is removed immediately after issuing AT+CGACT=1,1 command.
After deleting the SMS delivery report from the "SR" memory space, old SMS delivery report is still seen in memory if AT+CPMS? is executed after reset.
AirPrime may reset after sometime when command at+cfun=0 and at+cfun=1,0 are executed in loop repeatedly.
AirPrime accepts the assigned network operations even when the ciphering algorithm used with operation is not activated in the module.
ADL_RET_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED error is received instead of ADL_RET_ERR_PARAM when TCU service is subscribed using an invalid PIN ID for Event Capture and Event Detection services.
AirPrime may reset when filling the ME storage for SMS (AT+CPMS="ME","ME") using the AT+CMGW command.
Sometimes the AirPrime doesn't recover and reset repeatedly after the new application is installed. Also the AT commands are not accessible.
The table containing the operators name has been updated as per latest SE.13 list dated April 4, 2014.
+CMS ERROR: 302 error is returned (instead of +CME ERROR: 3) when the input parameters are set with incorrect values.
This Sierra Wireless proprietary command can be used to activate/de-activate voice mail indicator (< FctId> = 1).
This Sierra Wireless proprietary command can be used to get the hardware version
Read command for +W32k command is available now.
AT&F restores the default value of <service> parameter.

+CME ERROR: 22 is returned instead of OK when "ON" phonebook is empty (i.e., no MSISDNs).

AT+WLCK doesn’t work for PS, PP and PC facilities.
AT+WSVN does not change the IMEI SVN sent to the network
"+WIND:7" indication is not received when SIM PIN is locked and PIN is not yet entered
AirPrime indicates to network that it supports Fax (even though it doesn't). This is not expected to impact normal functioning of the AirPrime.
+PACSP is not supported
SMS sent to the AirPrime while it is powered off may sometimes be missed
+CDS or +CDSI unsolicited responses for SMS delivery report may sometimes be missed when a large number of SMS are sent repeatedly and UART port is kept busy
When a STK SEND SS is requested, the action is correctly done, but the Terminal response sent back to the SIM doesn't contain additional information (Operation Code and SS Parameters).
PDP context activation request to AMS server after AMS based firmware upgrade is sent without username and password information.
During software upgrade using AirVantage Management Services, after a fallback, the +WDSF information is wrong; it informs that a fallback is possible, whereas it is not.
After a firmware upgrade using Airvantage Management Services , even when the firmware has been re-installed using serial link, value reported by +WDSF: indication incorrectly shows that a fallback firmware package is present.
Connections to AirVantage Management Services will fail after GPRS connection is closed by +CGATT=0, if +CGCLASS is set to “CG”. Connection can be established again only after module is reset.
SYSTEM_RESET_N pin is not functional after AirPrime enters sleep mode.
SPI block cannot be subscribed more than once with different chip select signal
State of RTS returned by adl_portGetSignalState() is incorrect
QoS settings reset to default when GPRS bearer is started by an embedded application.
Call waiting beeps for an incoming call are not heard during an active call. Unsolicited responses for call waiting works fine. This restriction is present in Firmware 7.52 and has been fixed in Firmware 7.52.1.A5.
Service status in the network for +CLIP/+CLIR/+COLP supplementary service is incorrectly displayed as not provisioned, even if the service is provisioned. This does not impact +CLIP/+CLIR/+COLP unsolicited response.
PPP connection is automatically terminated because of non-acknowledgement of lcp-echo requests when PPP connection establishment is done on LINUX machine
When the T3321 timeout occurs during a GPRS detach procedure with the retransmission, AirPrime fails to perform the GPRS attach subsequently.
WIP bearer start may fail if the APN requires authentication.
Workaround: Set APN user-id and password using +WPPP before starting the bearer.
AMR-Wideband is not supported
With adl_adSubscribe() API, it is possible to allocate only one cell with an undefined size, any further cell allocations with undefined size cause the AirPrime to restart.
Starting time is long compare to 2G products. Start-up times measured in controlled environment are:

+WIND: 4 47.14
The audio PCM playback stops with an error, and cannot be restarted. Sometimes AirPrime restarts after this.
ADL event is not received by one of the Application tasks, when two Application tasks are waiting for it.
SIM initialization time can be very long and may vary from one SIM to other.
Incorrect response is received on selection of a non-existing File ID using AT+CSIM command.
+CME ERROR: 13 is not reported after a SIM is removed

When a manual fallback is asked with the +WDSF command whereas no install succeeded before, the manual fallback should be failed and +WDSF should be answered an error.
Firmware upgrade from Firmware 7.51 to Firmware 7.52 using AirVantage Management Services fails if bootloader is upgraded before firmware.
Workaround: Upgrade firmware first while using bootloader from Firmware 7.51 & then upgrade bootloader
“battchg” of +CIND exceed 5 if voltage applied is beyond the prescribed limit of Charging Voltage (ie, 4.3mV), then battery charge level can be considered as maximum (5).
If an UICC with USIM application is selected, following AT commands related to CPHS are restrained: +CPHS, +WALS, +WMBN. In such a case, +CME ERROR: 3 is returned.
At very high UART baud rates, AirPrime may sometimes reset when +CPBN command is used repeatedly to read entries from “ME” phonebook.
AT commands cannot be issued to the AirPrime over any DLC if sleep mode is enabled before CMUX session is established.
Data flows are often corrupted or interrupted if AirPrime is being used with two simultaneous data flow on the both UART in CMUX mode.
Whenever UART2 is opened by Applicationusing ADL API at AUTO BAUD RATE, baud rate of the UART will get fixed after the first communication with hyper terminal or any other application. The baud rate will not get changed after that which will lead to an erroneous communication with different baud rates.
The AirPrime resets if a large DLE/ETX sequence is transferred using TCP/UDP socket which is created on UART or USB bearer using Internet Application.
The ADL_INIT_DOWNLOAD_ERROR error is received while trying to write into an already finalized A&D Cell. Error ADL_INIT_DOWNLOAD_ERROR is rightly returned as it is not possible to write into a finalized cell. The finalized Cell_ID should be deleted first in order to write into it and then used to download and install the application.
Command class locked and no responses received for AT+WSCAN command when it is issued for bands having no signal strength.
Dial-up fails if no authentication details are provided (+WPPP=0)
Using Internet library, a new UDP socket can't be created on local port in case this port is already being used as a listening socket.
After a FTP transfer is completed in boost mode (AirPrime at 104Mhz), the module gets out of boost mode and the AirPrime frequency is returned to 26MHz.
When using GDB with maximum of allowed breakpoints (2), and pressing Step Return, Developer Studio will sometimes insert an extra (3rd) breakpoint. This will stop further GDB debugging session from working.
Workaround, do not use maximum of allowed breakpoints when doing step return.
3G SIMs may not be detected sometime if SIM Removal done about 20 times. Approximately, 4 seconds of gap between insertion & removal is necessary for successful operation
SIM removal on 2G SIMs may cause reset if done about 10 times. Approximately, 3 seconds of gap between insertion & removal is necessary to circumvent the reset
While using USIM with AirPrime, application phonebook is not supported. So if the UICC is inserted into an AirPrime accessing the ADN and EXT1 files; and a record in these files has been updated, and if the UICC is later inserted into a terminal that supports the global and/or application specific phonebook, a full synchronization will not be performed of the phonebook between an external entity and the UICC (if synchronization is requested).
Switch from Remote SIM to Local SIM fails if the Local SIM is absent and the switching requests from Local SIM to Remote SIM and vice versa, are sent in quick succession.
While using USIM with AirPrime, application phonebook is not supported, i.e. “AP” is not shown in response of AT+CPBS=? command.
Only 254 entries are available on USIM phonebook (as in SIM 2G) as only one ADN file can be managed. USIM should support more entries as USIM can support 4 ADN's.
