    AMM Appliance

    The AMM can be purchased as an appliance from Sierra Wireless under special circumstances. Please speak to your Account Manager for more details.

    The following subsections describe the physical appliance.

    Appliance Requirements

    The AMM hardware appliance, purchased from Sierra Wireless 1, is to be installed in a shelf rack within a secure, climate-controlled space such as a data center that can provide uninterrupted power supply and be reachable from the Internet (or your external network of gateways) as well as from the enterprise network. Factory-supplied rails are included for this installation.

    Each appliance is specified according to the number of devices it will manage. Sierra Wireless provides two sizes of server appliances - Enterprise Lite (supports up to 200 connected devices) and Enterprise (>200 connected devices)

    Enterprise Lite Appliance - Standard Configuration

    • Dell PowerEdge R250 or equivalent chassis
    • Recommended 16 GB RAM Memory
    • Gbit Ethernet 2

    Enterprise Appliance - Standard Configuration

    The AMM is designed to operate 24x7, and therefore an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) must be used.

    For installation purposes, you will need to supply:

    1. VGA cable and local monitor.
    2. USB keyboard.
    3. Ethernet network interface cable.
    4. Ethernet network interface cable to internal network.
    5. AC power (connected via included power cord).

    High Availability Requirements

    The appliance hardware specification includes support for high availability. For more information about high availability, see High Availability.

    Storage Requirements

    Following assumptions:

    • check-in should be limited to once every hour.

    Disk storage applies to all configurations. Where the expected disk storage for a deployment is greater than the standard configuration, Sierra Wireless will provide additional disk storage. This must be requested in advance of deployment. Physical devices may only be available for purchase in capacities larger than the minimum recommendations published in this document.
