    System Upgrade

The System Upgrade panel provides an easy interface that allows a user with administrator privileges to upgrade the AMM. Customers must have an active support contract to be eligible to upgrade their AMM. As the upgrade is automated, only standard system configurations are supported. Non-standard systems will not upgrade.

Customers that still require support, assuming they are on a support contract, can contact Technical Support for assistance with the upgrade. We recommend all customers test their system configuration to ensure they have sufficient system resources prior to running the upgrade.

The automated upgrade can only be initiated from a system running AMM 2.17.5. Previous versions of the software must manually upgrade first to 2.17.5.

Upgrade Workflow for AMM running 2.17.5

The general workflow is as follows:

    1. Contact Technical Support for the AMM software package and license key file. You will need to provide the System ID, which can be found at Help > About

    2. Once the software package and license key file have been received from Technical Support, save them to a computer that has access to the AMM.

    3. Open a web browser on the computer, and log into the AMM web UI as a user with admin privileges.

    4. Navigate to Admin > System > Upgrade.

    5. Click on Upload Upgrade Package to upload the software package from the computer to the AMM server. The package will show as a new version entry with an Available status.

    6. Click on the action button for Start Upgrade. The upgrade wizard has three steps.

      a. The System Upgrade Requirements Acknowledgement pop-up will show first. This must be acknowledged before the upgrade will proceed.

The System Upgrade Requirements Acknowledgement step ensures that your AMM has sufficient system resources to successfully complete the upgrade. As the upgrade may include a database migration, sufficient system resources must be available or you risk corrupting your AMM during the upgrade. If you do not have sufficient resources, stop the upgrade at this point and contact Technical Support.

Click NEXT when ready to proceed.

      c. The license key dialog box will show.

Click SELECT LICENSE KEY FILE and specify the license file received from Technical Support. Click NEXT.

    7. The upgrade will start. There are two possible outcomes:

      a. After a short time the System Upgrade dialog appears, with a spinning circle and the message System upgrade request successful. Reboot is in progress. Please wait as it may take several minutes. If you are not redirected to the login screen, please refresh the page. After a few minutes, refresh the page and the login page will display with the new AMM version.

There is no impact to the cellular routers managed by the AMM during an AMM upgrade. Once the AMM comes back online, normal device communication will resume.

      b. Validation and checks performed by the upgrade script fail. The output from the script is shown to the user and the upgrade is aborted. The administrator will have to fix the blocking issue and restart the upgrade again. Click Export Upgrade Details to find out more information about the upgrade failure.

If you cancel the upgrade and later launch the upgrade wizard again, steps 6a and 6c must be re-done. If any system configuration changes were made previously for this upgrade, they will have been saved.

If you experience any issues with the upgrade, please contact Technical Support.
