    Configuring SIM PIN

This page shows you how to configure the router to enter the PIN on reboot.

If the router has a SIM that has a PIN installed and this feature is not enabled in the router, then the AirLink router will be unable to go on air. On the Hardware Interfaces > Cellular Interfaces > Configuration screen, under ADAPTER STATUS, the message “SIM PIN locked, (# attempts left)” will appear.

Under Hardware Interfaces > Cellular Interfaces > SIM Database, it will also show the OPERATOR as blank.

Additionally there will be a notification that indicates that the SIM is pin locked.

    Set the SIM PIN

    Use this process when:

    • enabling a PIN in the router for a SIM that has a PIN.

    • setting a PIN on a SIM that does not require one, but you want to set one.

    To set the SIM PIN:

    1. Go to Hardware Interfaces > Cellular Interfaces > SIM Database.

    2. In the KNOWN SIM table, at the end of a table row, click and select Edit.

    3. Enter the SIM PIN. Note: The PIN must be 4 to 8 digits long and will automatically prompt you for the correct format.

As soon as you enter any number in the SIM PIN field, it will display additional fields: SIM PIN ATTEMPTS LEFT, SIM PIN LOCK, and CHANGE PIN. SIM PIN LOCK is by default set to Disable, but will automatically Enable when you start entering a PIN for the first time.

      SETTING DESCRIPTION RANGE
SIM PIN ATTEMPTS LEFT Number of attempts left before the SIM will lock and require a PIN code 1 – 3
SIM PIN LOCK Allows you to enable or disable using a PIN Disable/Enable
CHANGE PIN Change the PIN code 4 – 8 digits

    4. Click UPDATE.

If the PIN is correctly entered, the AirLink router will go online and the ADAPTER STATUS will show as Connected and the OPERATOR will appear.

If the PIN is incorrectly entered, the message under ADAPTER STATUS will show “SIM PIN locked, (# attempts left)”. Repeat setting the SIM PIN to try again.

    Locked SIM PIN

When the SIM PIN locked count reaches 1, the next incorrectly entered PIN will block the SIM PIN entry and cause the SIM to require the Personal Unblocking Key (PUK) to unlock it. The ADAPTER STATUS will show as “SIM PIN BLOCKED (# attempts left)” where the number refers to the number of PUK entry attempts left.

Before proceeding, ensure that you have the correct PUK from your carrier or source of the SIM. Incorrectly entering the PUK many times can permanently disable the SIM.

    To enter the SIM PUK:

    1. Go to Hardware Interfaces > Cellular Interfaces > SIM Database.

    2. In the KNOWN SIM table, at the end of a table row, click and select Edit.

    3. Enter the SIM PUK. Note: The PUK must be 8 to 10 digits long and will automatically prompt you for the correct format.

    4. After you enter the correct PUK, you will need to enter a new SIM NEW PIN.

    5. Click UNBLOCK PIN and it will reset the PIN.

    6. Click CANCEL to exit the configuration.

    Change the SIM PIN

    1. Go to Hardware Interfaces > Cellular Interfaces > SIM Database.

    2. In the KNOWN SIM table, at the end of a table row, click and select Edit.

    3. Under SIM PIN, re-enter the current PIN. This must be re-entered for every SIM configuration change.
