    How to create a new alert rule?

    Alert rules are configured from the Alert Rules section. For more information, see What is an Alert Rule? .

    The procedure for creating an alert rule differs depending on the operating system of your routers.

    Routers running ALEOS

    To create a new alert rule:

    1. Go to Configure > Alert Rules.
    2. Click on Create. The New Alert Rule page opens.
    3. Select a template. A template is an alert rule example with pre-filled conditions based on selected template.
    4. Optionally change some values of the pre-filled condition and add more conditions to your alert rule.
    5. Set the alert:
      • Name
      • Description
    6. Add one or several actions (see actions ):
      • Send an email - email addresses of your company users automatically appear when clicking the To field. An email preview is automatically generated based on the alert name, description. The email sent by AirVantage will also include a link to your system monitoring details page
      • Call a callback URL - one or more URLs that will be called via webhooks each time the alert is raised.
      • Send Command - select the application in your system which run the command and then select the command.
      • Apply Settings - select the template to apply on your system. Have a look to the template section.
      • System suspend - no parameter
      • Changing offer - Select the new offer to set when the alert is raised.
      • Apply label - the label will be added when the alert is raised and remove when the alert disapears.
    7. Click Save.

    An alert rule requires a dataset created for the router model and firmware version that will be sending the alerts. This dataset, which can contain a single datapoint, will provide the data that will trigger the alert. See How to create a dataset for more information about datasets.

    1. Go to Configure > Alert Rules.
    2. Click + to create an alert rule.
    3. On the Select a Template page, select Custom.
    4. Under the Rule section, name your template, and add a description, if needed.

    5. Under the If (condition)section, choose Communication data.

    6. Click to open the data search window.

    7. Select the Application Data tab and look for your router’s AirLink OS version.

    8. Select the desired dataset that you created earlier.

      • If the dataset contains multiple items, select the datapoint for your alert.
    9. Change the data type to String, and then click Select.

    10. Click the remaining boxes to select the desired conditional expression and trigger.

    11. Under Then, add one or several actions (see actions ):

    12. Click Save.

    Your new rule appears in the Alert Rules list.

    To view a summary of the rule, click the rule in the list. You can also edit the rule from the Alert Rules list (select the rule and then click ) or from the summary page (click ).
